New players wanted

Cobdown are a friendly club that would welcome contact from any players who would be interested in playing hockey with us.

Whether you're new to the game, looking to move clubs, new to the area or returning to the game, we would welcome you getting in touch. We have one of the most affordable membership fees and low match fees (£6 per match for adults, £3 for juniors) and play on the wonderful astro surface at The Hundred of Hoo school. Our clubhouse at Aylesford is amongst one of the largest in the county and provides a fantastic base to operate from.

We have regular social activities from Boules, Ten-Pin bowling, quiz nights, greyhound nights, meals and discos etc. We have a fun end of season mixed tour to the Isle of Wight and also regular outs after fitness training on a Wednesday night and generally being sociable on a Friday night.

We'd love to hear from you, whether for the Mens or Ladies teams, please contact The Club Secretary for more details.

Club Training

The training sessions every other Sunday at Mapplesden Noakes school are met with enthusiasm from all those that attend and yet again there was a good turn out.

Once again the website and network have worked well together and we were delighted to welcome yet another new person to training last Sunday, wishing to play for Cobdown Ladies.

These sessions focus on the real youngsters (9 - 13) who have their own regular coach, to the more experienced players, with training routines designed to include all abilities.

We have at least 3 coach's at each training session who are happy to spend time with groups or on an individual basis. We enjoy seeing continued improvement in players skills and awareness and the fact that there many regulars shows these sessions work.

Any new players are able to meet and talk to players from of all the sides as each team is always well represented with either the captain or vice-captain in attendance.

Suggestions from players are always welcome and factored into the next available training plan whenever possible.

So please pluck up your courage and enthusiasm and come and joins us on Sunday 20 February at Mapplesden Noakes School.

See you there!!

Goalkeeper Required

A vacancy has arisen within Cobdown Hockey Club's Mens teams for a goalkeeper for the 2009/2010 season onwards. We welcome applications from any of the following:

  • An experienced goalkeeper who's looking to move clubs
  • A retired keeper looking to get back into the game
  • A trainee goalkeeper who's looking to step up to regular matches
  • A goalkeeper from any other sport looking to cross-train

Our teams are a friendly bunch, playing their games in the Kent League, but looking to progress within the league structure.

We have goal keepers kit available for use by our goalkeeper, if required, so no need to worry if you don't have any. We are also one of the cheapest clubs to play for in the county, with match fees at £6 and low membership rates too.

Sorry but we are unable to accept requests from international goal keepers as we have no facilities to assist with accommodation or employment.

If you are interested in finding out more then please contact the club secretary who will be pleased to hear from you.
