On a glorious, if not early, Saturday morning in October Cobdown made the trip up to relish the delights of private tuition on the hallowed Lee Valley Astro, part of the Olympic legacy. Players from both teams travelled up to receive individual tuition from the England U21 coach as well as the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic coach.
Focusing on the different teams wish lists, the coaches put the girls through their paces; providing a unique insight and new perspective on their game. The coaches instruction included formation, how to 'Capitalise on' and 'Quash' penalty corners and showed that by moving the ball and keeping their game fluid Cobdown can command their matches leading them to further wins as they continue their 2014 -15 campaign. Cobdown 1XI currently laying 3rd in their recently promoted 3rd Division and Cobdown 2XI working towards promotion to division 4, in only their second season.
The training ended with both teams putting practice into play as they closed with an inter-club scrimmage with all players taking part a great day, highly recommended and one Cobdown are eager to revisit in the near future as the coaches input was invaluable to the club's continued development.
Cobdown are a friendly club that would welcome contact from any players who would be interested in playing hockey with us.
Whether you're new to the game, looking to move clubs, new to the area or returning to the game, we would welcome you getting in touch. We have one of the most affordable membership fees and low match fees (£6 per match for adults, £3 for juniors) and play on the wonderful astro surface at The Hundred of Hoo school. Our clubhouse at Aylesford is amongst one of the largest in the county and provides a fantastic base to operate from.
We have regular social activities from Boules, Ten-Pin bowling, quiz nights, greyhound nights, meals and discos etc. We have a fun end of season mixed tour to the Isle of Wight and also regular outs after fitness training on a Wednesday night and generally being sociable on a Friday night.
We'd love to hear from you, whether for the Mens or Ladies teams, please contact The Club Secretary for more details.
