Tours

2008 Mixed Tour - Isle of Wight - May 9th - 11th

Season finished, and missing the weekly run out? Then fear not as the annual mixed tour has arrived. Once again the Isle of Wight Hockey Club has invited us back to partake in their annual "Hockey Festival" over the weekend of 9th - 11th May 2008.

Itinerary:

Friday 9th May
Meet @ Cobdown Hockey Club early afternoon and transfer to Portsmouth for a late afternoon ferry to the Isle of Wight. Check into St. Catherine's Hotel and relax during the evening ahead of Hockey on Saturday.

Saturday 10th May
After Breakfast transfer to the Isle of Wight Hockey Club to partake in the Annual Hockey Festival. Several Matches to be played throughout the day. Return to the hotel in the evening for dinner and a quick shower ahead of a night dancing at the Festival Disco.

Sunday 11th May
Stock up at breakfast ahead of another day's hockey before catching a ferry back to the mainland and returning to Cobdown for early Sunday evening.

What's Included?

  • Return transport from Cobdown to Isle of Wight (Includes Ferry and Mini-bus)
  • Team entrance to the "Hockey Festival"
  • Entrance to the "Festival Disco" Saturday Evening
  • 2 Nights Accommodation at St Catherineís Hotel, Sandown (Includes Breakfast and Dinner Sat and Breakfast Sunday morning)
  • Good Quality Tour Polo Shirt with Nickname and Tour Logo
  • Playing Socks (Shorts / Skirts not provided)

TOTAL PRICE £135 - £140 *Subject to final numbers. (i.e. if we need to hire a second Mini-Bus etc)

Prior to this letter being sent out there has already been a high interest shown from both previous tourists and potential new tourists and therefore we have currently entered 1 Mixed team and have a 2nd place on hold for either a 2nd mixed team or a men's team if numbers allow. Therefore could I please ask you to register your interest ASAP either with your captain direct or by contacting myself or Alan Simpson on the numbers provided below.

In order to secure your place you will need to submit a deposit of £50 along with a completed booking form either to myself at the address below or via your captain by Saturday 9th February. (Cheques payable to Keith Adie) The remaining balance will then be due by Saturday 23rd March 2008, so that we can finalise plans ahead of what will be hopefully another enjoyable tour.

All that is left for me to say at this stage is please do not hesitate to contact your captain, Alan or myself should you have any queries with regards to this years festival and I look forward to hopefully welcoming you on this years tour.

All the best for the remainder of the season,
Keith Adie

Deposit Due - Sat 9th Feb 2008
Balance Due - Sat 23rd March 2008

2008 Veterans Tour - Southend - April 11th - 13th

Howdy, yon intrepid (old) Hockey Tourists

As most of you will know, galvanised by the success of the Tour (apart from the hockey....but that goes without saying!) last year to Brighton, I have been busy trying to organise as good an event for this year.

So :

  • Going the self same weekend Fri 11th April c.6pm - back Sun 13th mid pm (Easter is 23rd March weekend)
  • Despite everyone's satisfaction with Brighton - we are having a change and going to Southend
  • In the light of one or two derisory comments about our hotel (and condemnation by our Fire & Safety Executive) we are going up market. We are booked in (and they will appreciate numbers sooner rather than later) to the superb Gleneagles Hotel in Clifton Parade(see it on the net)
  • Notwithstanding the extra accommodation cost, together with a tour shirt, sustenance for the 'long' drive....oh yes and a van! I remain hopeful of restricting the cost to (or damn near) £100 again
  • Hockey-wise (sorry, need to go through the motions to get a real thirst) - we are playing Southend on Sat afternoon and I am still finalising a game for Sun lunchtime on the way Home - probably Thurrock
  • As I promised, I am giving first refusal to those who supported Cobdown HC and me last year.

So its over to you, to check your dates, your Bank Balance and let me have your (early?) confirmation that you are 'In'.

Cheers
Dave aka. Turbo
